TRADITION AND ORIGIN

ARNSTADT Kristall GmbH has been a producer of fine lead crystal since its founding of 1947 by the master engraver Heinrich Arlt. During the brands lifetime it has always stood for exceptional glass making and artistry. Over the years the company specialised itself to become an international supplier of high quality, handcrafted lead crystal.

Today, this family company has been able to successfully combine the skilled workmanship of the glasssmiths and the deployment of modern manufacturing technology, to produce fascinating lead crystal of the highest class.

Milestones

The master engraver Heinrich Arlt a native of North Bohemia and his family is relocated in Arnstadt after the second world war. To enable the continuation of his traditional North Bohemian trade, he set up a glass refinement company. He founded Heinrich Arlt KG and with it he took the first step in the successful company history.

 

Over the years, a medium sized company had grown from the small family business. The production of glassware was slowly replaced by lead crystal production. The first export relationships are established in Italy, Canada and the USA. At this time the company is being run by Gerda Heller, the daughter of the company´s founder.

 

Due to the development of the GDR, the company is socialised, along with other private companies, into the "VEB Bleikristall Arnstadt". At the same time the company moved to the north of Arnstadt, where the company is still located today. Any further development of the company was only determined by state control and planning. Numerous prizes and awards prove the international success of the products.

The development of new and exciting collections and the opening up of new markets allows the company to grow once again. A state of the art acid polishing facility is commissioned, improving the quality of the product once again and from this point on gives ARSTADT crystal its peerless brilliance. Additionally, a new display room and a factory shop - covering 600 sqm - have been opened.

 

Alongside the continuous increase in production the manufacturing has been consistently modernised and upgraded. The result is an optimal environment for both the creativity and quality of the employees to thrive. At the same time Arnstadt Kristall has been able to successfully position itself as a high quality international brand. At the moment, products are exported in over 50 different countries.
